All Ford Day 2011 – Bassendean Oval

1964 Ford Thunderbird

Earlier this week, rain was forecast for today, but Tracy insisted that All Ford Day is always, but always, hot & cloudless. And it was.

The UV rating was probably as high as the pulse level of revheads as Ford-lovers converged on Bassendean Oval.

There was a great turnout of Thunderbirds, especially from the Golden days of ’57 – ’66. Checkout the gallery, also featuring other notable Fords.

Pimp My Garage

Graffiti hot rod images wall

Well O.K., I’m not a pimp, this isn’t my garage, and no TBirds were involved. But hey, anyone could apply this concept to a spare garage wall at home, as long as your wife doesn’t mind hanging out her washing in front of some hot rod ‘art’.

With the aid of an overhead projector (old school) and a couple of mates from the Cranksters Rod & Kustom Club (also old school, apart from young Ben), and with the inducement of beers and BBQ, we painted a vacant wall at the company yard (sick of staring at that blank brick wall!).

The closest thing to a pimp would be found at the fine establishment around the corner, referred to colloquially as the ‘Rub & Tug’. But ladies, your husbands were all well-behaved and were restricted to the premises.

Only problem was, incoming gear returned to the yard the next week somewhat obscured our handiwork.

The subject matter? – a late-20s track racer, custom ’41 Ford coupe, and a ’36 Ford coupe. Materials required – a tin of red paint, black paint, couple of brushes, and a few steaks.

Deville’s Pad: Hot Rods from Hell

A short deviation from Thunderbirds, to bring you some of the fantastic happenings at Deville’s Pad’s hootin’ tootin’ gasoline-fuelled event today.

More leopard-print than a Johnny Weissmuller film, more smoke than a Marlboro convention, more sun and throbbing engines than Daytona Beach!

Where else can you see Hot Rods, tattoos, barbers, babes, BBQ meat, vintage gear, magicians, tiki cocktails, & fab bands… all in one place? Josh & Babs – you stage events like nobody else! See the pics from this fab afternoon here.

2011 Cranksters Pipeline Picnic

A sunny day, perfect for a run up to Mundaring in the Hills for the Annual Cranksters Pipeline Picnic.

Over 200 cars joined in this year and the Crankster lads organised a great gig with event Tshirt (cool design by Sparky), goody bags and a raffle with varied and useful prizes (air compressor/adultshop toys/screwdriver set anyone?).

Thrilled to see Rob’s 57 black Baby Bird and Crawford & Susan’s 60 Big Bird burning the carbon from the sparkplugs scaling Greenmount Hill.

Pics in the gallery.

Flyer for Pipeline Cruise

Just a quick reminder that the Cranksters Pipeline Picnic is Sunday Week: March 13th.
I’ve been told there are only 9 pre-entry tickets still available.

You don’t want to miss out on a Tshirt now, do ya?

2011 Big Al’s Poker Run

Another Big Year for Big Al’s

Now kid, don’t let anyone touch the paintjob!

Each year, the larger-than-life Al organises the car event that is sure to turn out the masses. Raising funds for charity, it’s also a proven incentive for the back-shed tinkering to be finalised, ready for ‘ignition-on’ by February. Apparently, sales of Carnauba wax reach peak around now!

As regular readers know, last year’s talking point was the Cranksters-manned checkpoint at Bridgestone Tyres (for those who came in late, read about it here). But due to certain er, differences of opinion, that was the curtain call for themed checkpoints. And Paul had his heart set on squeezing into Errol Flynn’s tights and puffy shirt this year!!

So, here are some pics from the show-and-shine departure point at the Burswood shore – see the full gallery in our Events page here.
